Help Make Audio Archives a Part of the Web

Oral histories, podcasts, radio news: there’s a wealth of recorded audio being put online by libraries and public media organizations. But without full-text transcripts or deeper descriptions, much of this content is beyond the reach of search engines, and inaccessible to the deaf or hard of hearing. Building on their Together We Listen collaboration, NYPL Labs and The Moth are hosting a two-day hackathon designed to advance the cause of audio accessibility, and to explore future uses of media archives online.

We invite developers, designers, data scientists, audio producers, and others who have the skills and the desire to work together on compelling and creative new approaches to audio accessibility and use. Join us!

At this hackathon, we will
